Industrial Air-cooled chiller uses shell and tube evaporator to make heat exchange between water and refrigerant. The refrigerant system absorbs the heat load in the water, cools the water and produces cold water. The heat is brought to the finned condenser through the action of the compressor, and then lost to the outside air by the cooling fan (wind cooling).

Industrial air cooled chillers absorb heat from process water, and the heat is then transferred into the atmosphere around the chiller unit. This sort of chiller system is usually utilized in applications where the extra heat it sparks isn't a factor.
